Tufts Institute of the Environment will lead the New England regional marathon to address the need for climate change resiliency related to sea level rise in the greater Boston area.


Boston is among the world's top ten cities most vulnerable to damage from climate change-driven sea level rise.

Local officials, experts, and developers will share insights on the city's greatest risks and opportunities for innovation, along with workshops on emerging technology, followed by a 24-hour team-based hacking competition. Finalists will receive extended support to complete their projects, and one will be chosen to present at the UN's COP21 climate change conference in Paris.

The Global event

Created by the European Institute of Technology's Climate-KIC Program, the Global Climathon will be held in cooperation with major universities, research centers, and government facilities across North and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania.
